The 5th IWA International Symposium on “Water and Wastewater Technologies in Ancient Civilizations: Evolution of Technologies from Prehistory to Modern Times” will be held at the Dead Sea, Jordan from September 11th to 13th, 2019. The Symposium is dedicated to themes relevant to the evolution of world’s water, wastewater, and storm water systems since the prehistoric era. This unique event aims to promote interactions, to motivate discussions and to encourage collaborations among the global community on water resources in the past, present and future. Information about ancient technologies of water and sanitation in various civilizations, which enhance sustainable practices and water management, are crucial to develop present and future technologies. This Symposium will bring together research scientists, historians, archaeologists, and engineers from academic and research institutions, consulting firms and industries around the world. Major achievements in related scientific fields of water and sanitation technologies and management throughout the millennia will be presented. In addition, it will provide valuable insights into those technologies with their apparent characteristics of durability, adaptability to the environment, and sustainability. These technologies are the underpinning of modern and future achievements in water, waste- and storm-water management practices. The Dead Sea is a famous tourist location with prosperity and peace, fashion and history. It is one of the best places for a visit and a stay to revitalize weary travelers. The 5th IWA will be held in such an ideal gathering place. On behalf of the organizing committee, we cordially invite all of you to participate in 5th IWA 2019!
