My name is Ghaleb Akari and I am a doctoral candidate in the International Development Program- Political Science and Global Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi - USA. 

For my doctoral dissertation project, I am examining “Water Elites’ Perceptions of Water Security in the Middle East and North Africa Region”. It seeks to identify, explain, and analyze by national elites' contrasting perceptions of water security in  Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Tunisia.

      The study examines four perception areas: current knowledge level of water security, water resource management, water service delivery, and water-related risk mitigation. These elites’ perceptions of water security will help to better align this discipline with other areas of MENA security studies.

Because you are a water professional, I am inviting you to participate in this research study by completing the attached on-line survey. The following questionnaire will require approximately 45 minutes to complete.  If you opt to, there is an optional follow-up interview that will require approximately 10 minutes to complete.

 In order to ensure that all information will remain confidential, please do not include your name. You do so only if you agree in the follow-up interview. If you choose to participate in this survey, please answer all questions as complete as possible and return the completed questionnaires promptly per the instruction below. Participation is strictly voluntary and you may refuse to participate at any time. Risks to participants are considered minimal. There will be no costs for participating, nor will you benefit from participating.

This study has been reviewed and approved by The University of Southern Mississippi Institutional Review Board.
